Getting to Belize
It's easy. Belize is about 2 hours and 15 minutes by air from Miami, Florida and Houston, Texas. U.S. gateway cities to Belize include Miami, Houston and New Orleans, Louisiana. Direct flights are also available from Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C; and from Toronto, Canada. Upon your arrival at the Belize International Airport, there are taxis and or rental cars available. The taxi fare from the airport to Cucumber Beach Marina is around $30 US dollars. For our Belize Charter guests, land transportation will be provided upon arrival from the Belize International Airport to Cucumber Beach Marina
Entry Requirements
A valid passport and return ticket are required to enter Belize. No visas are required for citizens of the U.S., British Commonwealth nations or European Union countries. Please refer to www.travelbelize.org site for specific information.
Language
English is the official language and is widely spoken, as is Spanish.
Departure Tax
A tax of $35.00 US is charged when leaving Belize. Must be paid in cash (credit cards not accepted for departure tax.)
Customs
U.S. residents are permitted a $400 per person (or $1,100 per family) duty-free tax exemption upon returning to the U.S., and can also bring back one quart of alcohol and 200 cigarettes duty-free.
Currency
U.S. dollars are accepted everywhere in Belize. Local currency is the Belize Dollar. One U.S. dollar is worth BZ$2. U.S. dollars should be exchanged directly in purchasing goods and services, as banks will charge a fee (currently is at .0125) to exchange U.S. to Belize dollars.
